Christine Plays Viola are an Italian New wave band born in Pratola Peligna , in 2007.
The group is the brainchild of three boys (Christian, Fabrizio and Daniele) who started composing and recording some songs with computer, marked by bleak and particularly hypnotic colors.
After several months the band is complete with the recruitment of a longtime friend of the three boys: Desio. Since the first production the band's music looks sad, evocative kaleidoscopic, characteristics that allow the quartet to perform in several festivals, with significant involvement of the public and especially great feedback from the critics.
After attending in some compilations, in March 2008 decided to record their first self-produced EP "It'll be cold this winter." The album features sounds rather different: living elements classically identified as indie rock with others to clear matrix Dark / New Wave and ambient in a mood emotional, dark, hypnotic.
The CPV continue their live activities with the intent to promote the EP and trying to make his way through a dense underground scene: in July of 2009 the band won the X edition of the competition POPOLISOUND held in Popoli (PE).
In their performances alongside tracks 'historic', the band proposes new compositions in which the elements Ambient Wave and are increasingly present and the songs are more dynamic and direct.
Subsequently, the CPV damage to the movies! The band is in fact entrusted the composition of the soundtrack of the short film of Loreto Valente "ICS THEME" Out October 19, 2009.
In the summer of 2009 the band recorded an unexpected setback: the vocalist Cristian because of personal problems is forced to leave the band. The separation is still in friendly terms, and consensual.
But the band does not give up! The boys continue to compose music and begin the search for a new singer.
After several audictions, Massimo (ex singer of the Roman melancholic metal band OBLIVIO) becomes the new singer of the band helping to expand the influences of the band with a greater tendency toward melancholy and melodic tones.
The CPV have recently realized the self-produced demo "Useless" To See Beyond ": an excerpt from this EP will be used in new short film of Loreto Valente “Le Nove Croci” out in March 2010.
Soon the band will participate in two festivals: ITALIAWAVE and ORQUESTRA.

I Christine Plays Viola sono un band New Wave italiana formata a Pratola Peligna nel 2007.
Il gruppo nasce da un’idea di tre ragazzi Cristian, Fabrizio e Daniele che iniziano a comporre e registrare alcune canzoni al computer, contrassegnate da tinte fosche e particolarmente ipnotiche. Dopo alcuni mesi la band è a l completo con il reclutamento di un amico di vecchia data dei tre ragazzi: Desio. Fin dalle prime produzioni la musica della band appare malinconica, caleidoscopica ed evocativa, caratteristiche che permettono al quartetto di esibirsi in alcuni festivals, con un notevole coinvolgimento del pubblico e soprattutto ottimi riscontri da parte della critica specializzata.
Dopo aver partecipato ad alcune compilation, nel Marzo 2008 decidono di registrare il loro primo EP autoprodotto "It'll be cold this winter". Il disco è caratterizzato da sonorità piuttosto varie: convivono elementi più classicamente identificabili come indie rock con altri di chiara matrice Dark/New Wave e Ambient in un mood emozionale,oscuro, ipnotico.
I CPV continuano la loro attività live con l’intento di promuovere l’EP e cercando di farsi strada nel fitto panorama underground: nel luglio del 2009 la band si aggiudica la X Edizione del concorso POPOLISOUND svoltosi a Popoli (PE).
Nelle loro esibizioni accanto ai brani ‘storici’ la band propone nuove composizioni in cui gli elementi Wave ed Ambient sono sempre più presenti ed i brani risultano più dinamici e diretti.
Successivamente i CPV si danno al cinema!! Alla band infatti è affidata la composizione della colonna sonora del cortometraggio di Loreto Valente “ICS THEME” in uscita il 19 Ottobre 2009.
Nell’estate del 2009 la band registra una inaspettata battuta d’arresto: il vocalist Cristian a causa di problemi personali è costretto ad abbandonare la band. La separazione avviene comunque in termini amichevoli e consensuali.
Ma la band non si arrende!!! I ragazzi continuano a comporre musica e iniziano la ricerca di un nuovo cantante.
Dopo alcune audizioni in tempo record Massimo (attivo in precedenza con la melancholic metal band romana Oblivio) diventa il nuovo singer della band contribuendo ad ampliare le influenze della band con una maggiore propensione verso toni melodici e malinconici. I CPV sono attualmente a lavoro su nuove composizioni con l’obiettivo di registrare un nuovo EP nei prossimi mesi e continuano senza sosta l’attività live.
